Choosing a craft table cup holder

Choose around the space you actually have: a clear tabletop spot, an appropriate table edge or a separate drink surface.

Start with the working area

Lay out the project and the tools you will move, not just the supplies as they look in storage. Paper, fabric and cutting mats often occupy more space mid-project. If no clear area remains within reach, move the drink off the work table before choosing a holder.

A freestanding holder when you have surface space

Steadi slips onto drinkware with a base 2–3.15 inches across. Its 5.2-inch footprint needs full support on a level stationary surface. It needs no clamp or installation and can move with the drink. That also means it does not attach the cup to the table or seal an open drink.

An edge-mounted holder when tabletop space is scarce

A clamp-on holder can keep its cup below or beyond the work plane. Before choosing one, compare its stated opening, table-thickness range and permitted surface types with your own cup and table. Look at the table apron and your knees too. A clamp that fits the thickness may still interfere with a drawer or someone sitting down. Follow the specific maker’s instructions; this is a category comparison, not a test of a particular clamp.

A separate side table when the project takes over

A stable side table can separate liquids from paper and equipment. Put it within easy reach, outside walkways, and keep the entire holder away from its edge. A rolling cart must be stationary before it becomes a drink spot. A low shelf is not automatically better if you cannot comfortably reach it.

A lid and a coaster solve different problems

A suitable lid addresses the open top of the drink; a suitable coaster addresses moisture on the surface. Steadi is neither a spill seal nor a waterproof coaster. You may need different drinkware or a different location even when the base fits.

Decide before you buy

Measure the cup base and the usable surface space. Then mimic your normal reach for scissors, paper and supplies without a drink in place. If your arm or materials cross the proposed drink spot, change the layout. Buy for the setup you can actually use, not the ideal empty table.
